(SOLVED) Statistics and Probability

Please turn in a word or PDF document with your answers to the following questions.

1.       Determine the critical value of the following…

a.       Ha=μ<12, n = 14, σ = 12.2, α = 0.10

b.       Ha=μ≠18, n = 26, s = 4.2, α = 0.20

c.       Ha=μ≠12, n = 26, σ = 4.2, α = 0.20

d.       Ha=μ>98, data: 98, 101, 94, 100, and 99 , α = 0.05

2.       Determine the p-value for the following.

a.       H0=μ≥12, Ha=μ<12, ztest=-1.58, n=20

b.       H0=μ≤28, Ha=μ>28, ttest=1.97, n=20

c.       H0=μ≥37, Ha=μ<37, ttest=-2.42, n=5

d.       H0=μ=52, Ha=μ≠52, ttest=1.94, n=18

e.       Assuming an alpha level of 0.05, which of the above null hypotheses would you reject?

3.       Trultian Co. makes springs.  They take a random sample of 10 springs each day from the line and test their tensile strength.  This test destroys the spring so they can’t increase the number of springs tested.  Today’s test resulted in an  of 255. They know the standard deviation of the population (σ) is 12.  It is important that the strength is greater than or equal to 250 so they want an alpha level of 0.01 for testing it.

a.       Complete the 7-step hypothesis test (use the following graph to complete step 3).

b.       Instead of completing a 7-step hypothesis test each day, they would like to establish acceptable values for.  What values are these?
