Watch the film: Crash, Director Paul Haggis (2005)
Identify a 5 minutes segment of the film that fleshes out/highlights one of the following course concepts/topics: Race, sexism and gender, social class (social stratification), socialization, deviance and crime.
Write a newscript/story-line to replace the segment you choose
The newscript/story-line should offer an alternative perspective on the concept/topic identified
No need to follow formal script writing protocols
Do not create new characters
Your final submission should include: (1) a brief summary of the film (one paragraph, and using your own words), (2) the newscript, and (3) a paragraph explaining your perspective (the changes you made, and the reason) and the sociological connections (connecting to the course)
Your submission should be no less than 4 pages double spaced. 1 page for (a) and (b) above, and 3 pages for the script.
Evaluation Rubric: /100 (30%)
Content: Summary and description provided /15
Script: Goes beyond the original segment to come up with a new view/perspective /35
Connection: Strong connection to course concepts and ideas; Indication that student understand concepts and applies appropriately /35
Grammar and Communication: Clear writing and organization of ideas; clear introduction and conclusion. Proper sentence and paragraph construction, few errors, typos, (proofread and edit your paper) /15
Please let me know if this is feasible. 2 pages is okay with APA format and the deadline is wednesday.
