Find a short passage from one of the papers you are discussing in your Literature. Build a frame around that quote using the model outlined in last week’s “The Art of Quoting.”
In other words,
- create a signal phrase to introduce the quote that tells us who said it and what his/her area of expertise is,
- put quote marks around the quote (or double indent if the passage is longer than three lines),
- be sure to punctuate correctly with an APA in-text parenthetical citation;
- then, write a brief, reader-friendly summing up of the quote,
- and finally, add a sentence or two that links the quote to your own thinking on the subject.
